Terms & Conditions
Effective Date: September 21, 2026
Welcome to shikihillstudio.com (the "Site"), operated by Shiki Hill Ceramics LLC, doing business as Shiki Hill Studio ("Shiki Hill Studio," "we," "us," or "our"). These Terms and Conditions ("Terms") govern your access to and use of the Site, including any purchase made through our Shop or confirmed with us by email. By using the Site or placing an order, you agree to these Terms, our Shipping & Delivery Policy, and our Return, Refund & Warranty Policy, each of which is part of these Terms.
About Us & Contact
Shiki Hill Studio is a curated home goods studio based in Napa, California. We offer handmade ceramics, tableware, and small goods from independent artisans, primarily in Japan and Taiwan, and we represent original furniture and other large pieces from independent design studios and makers (each a "Maker"), for which we act as an authorized dealer or distributor. Our current furniture Makers are listed on the Site.

Definitions
"Parcel Items" are ceramics, tableware, textiles, and other small goods that ship by standard parcel carrier (Front Door Parcel Delivery).
"Furniture & Large Pieces" are furniture, lighting, and other large or heavy pieces from our Makers that ship by freight and are delivered by appointment through our White Glove Delivery service. Eligible items show "White Glove Delivery" on the product page. Unless we say otherwise, everything in these Terms and our policies about Furniture & Large Pieces applies equally to every such piece from every Maker we represent, now or in the future.
"Made to Order" means a piece that is put into production by the Maker only after you place your order and pay your deposit.
Products, Craftsmanship & Natural Variation
Our ceramics and tableware are handmade, often one of a kind, and produced in small batches. Slight variation in glaze, color, shape, and dimension from the photos shown is normal and expected, not a defect.
Our Furniture & Large Pieces are handcrafted from natural materials. Wood grain, color, and texture, the pattern of hand-woven or hand-stitched elements, and other handcrafted details vary from piece to piece and from the photographs. These variations are natural characteristics resulting from craftsmanship and natural materials, contribute to the individuality of each piece, and do not constitute defects. Natural wood, leather, and surface finishes also change in appearance, texture, and color over time with use and light. Where a piece is produced in batches, pieces from different production runs may differ slightly from one another.
Individual perceptions of comfort are subjective and vary from person to person. Please review the specifications, dimensions, materials, and finish information on each product page carefully before ordering, and email us with any questions — we would much rather answer them before you order.
We make reasonable efforts to display colors and details accurately but cannot guarantee that your device displays them precisely.
All items are subject to availability. Some Furniture & Large Pieces are Made to Order or produced in limited quantities. We may limit quantities, discontinue a product, or correct pricing or description errors at any time, including after an order is placed; if that affects your order, we will contact you before charging or shipping.
Orders & Payment
Placing an order is an offer to purchase, which we may accept or decline (for example, for suspected fraud, a pricing error, unavailable stock, or a delivery destination we cannot serve). The automatic receipt you get at checkout acknowledges your order but is not our acceptance of it. An order is accepted when we ship it (in-stock items) or when we confirm receipt of your deposit by email (Made to Order pieces).
Prices are listed in U.S. dollars and do not include shipping, delivery, or applicable sales tax. For Parcel Items, shipping and tax are calculated at checkout. For Furniture & Large Pieces, the price of the piece does not include delivery; our flat-rate White Glove Delivery fee is shown separately at checkout or on your order confirmation, and sales tax is charged based on the delivery address.
In-stock items (Parcel Items and in-stock Furniture & Large Pieces) are paid in full at checkout through our Squarespace payment provider(s).
Made to Order pieces require a 50% deposit at the time of ordering, payable by ACH bank transfer, to confirm your order and begin production. We will invoice you for the remaining 50% balance, plus the delivery fee and applicable sales tax, before the piece ships to you; the balance may be paid by ACH or credit card. A piece will not be released for delivery until the balance is paid. Deposits are refundable in full only within 24 hours of our confirming receipt of your deposit, as described in our Return, Refund & Warranty Policy.
The estimated production and delivery timeline shown on the product page or in your order confirmation is an estimate, not a guarantee.
Shipping & Delivery
See our Shipping & Delivery Policy for delivery methods, fees, timing, scheduling, and what to expect at delivery for both Parcel Items and Furniture & Large Pieces. White Glove Delivery is available in the contiguous 48 United States only. Title and risk of loss pass to you when the item is delivered to your address (or, for Furniture & Large Pieces, when delivery is completed and signed for), except where the law provides otherwise.
Returns, Refunds & Warranty
See our Return, Refund & Warranty Policy. Because our goods are handmade and our Furniture & Large Pieces are Made to Order or produced in limited quantities, ALL sales are final except for verified manufacturing defects or shipping damage reported within 24 hours of delivery for Furniture & Large Pieces, or within 48 hours of delivery for Parcel Items. Furniture & Large Pieces are also covered by their Maker's warranty, which we administer on the Maker's behalf as your first point of contact.
Furniture & Large Pieces — Additional Terms
Authorized dealer. We sell our Makers' pieces as an authorized dealer or distributor. Maker warranties apply to pieces purchased from Shiki Hill Studio; please keep your order confirmation and any warranty card supplied with the piece.
Delivery region. White Glove Delivery is available in the contiguous 48 states. Eligible items show "White Glove Delivery" on the product page. If you are outside that area, email us and we will let you know what is possible.
Access and fit. You are responsible for confirming before ordering that the piece will fit through all doors, hallways, stairways, and elevators along the delivery path and in its intended location, and for telling us at scheduling about any special access requirements. If a piece cannot be delivered because of access limitations or building rules we were not told about, you may be responsible for return freight, redelivery, or storage charges.
Made to Order. Made to Order pieces are produced specifically for you. After the 24-hour grace period described in our Return, Refund & Warranty Policy, the order cannot be cancelled and the deposit is non-refundable, except as stated in that policy.
Taking receipt. Once a piece is ready for delivery, you must take receipt within 30 days. See our Shipping & Delivery Policy for holding and storage terms after that.
Care. Please follow the care guidance supplied with the piece. Damage from improper use, improper cleaning, exposure to water, heat, or direct sunlight, or unauthorized modification or repair is not covered by our policies or the Maker's warranty.
Stay — Shiki Hill Kai & Napa Valley
Information about our Napa Valley and Big Island of Hawaii ("Shiki Hill Kai") stay locations is provided for informational purposes only. Reservations are made through Airbnb, and all bookings, cancellations, payments, and guest policies are governed by Airbnb's own Terms of Service, not by these Terms.
Intellectual Property
All content on the Site — text, photographs, product descriptions, logos, and design elements — is owned by Shiki Hill Studio or by our Makers and other licensors and may not be copied, reproduced, or reused without prior written permission. Product designs, trademarks, and photography of our Makers' pieces remain the property of the respective Maker and are used by us under license. Award names and marks (such as the Red Dot Design Award) belong to the awarding organizations and are referenced only to describe recognitions a Maker or piece has actually received.
User Conduct
You agree not to misuse the Site, attempt unauthorized access, interfere with its operation, scrape or reproduce its content, or use it for any unlawful purpose.
Warranties & Limitation of Liability
Except for the express warranties described in our Return, Refund & Warranty Policy and any Maker warranty that accompanies a piece, and to the fullest extent permitted by law, products are provided "as is" and we disclaim all other warranties, express or implied, including implied warranties of merchantability and fitness for a particular purpose. To the fullest extent permitted by law, Shiki Hill Studio is not liable for indirect, incidental, special, or consequential damages arising from your use of the Site or products purchased through it, and our total liability for any claim is limited to the amount you paid for the item(s) giving rise to the claim. Some jurisdictions, including California, do not allow certain warranty disclaimers or liability limitations, so some of the above may not apply to you.
Delays Beyond Our Control
We are not responsible for delays or failures caused by events beyond our reasonable control, including natural disasters, governmental actions, customs, port, or carrier delays, labor disputes, transportation interruptions, epidemics, or Maker production disruptions. Made to Order pieces travel a long way, mostly by sea, and their timelines can move. If such an event materially delays your order, we will tell you as soon as we know and work with you on options.
Governing Law
These Terms are governed by the laws of the State of California, without regard to conflict-of-law principles.
Changes to These Terms
We may update these Terms from time to time. Continued use of the Site after changes are posted means you accept the updated Terms. The Terms in effect when you place an order govern that order.
